In China, we work with an experienced local placement partner who sources guest lecturers and tutors from Germany for selected colleges. They teach at individual institutions for periods ranging from three weeks to two months, sharing not only their professional expertise but also their cultural perspective.

Students at the partner colleges are learning German as a foreign language. The aim of the programme is to give them direct contact with a native German-speaking instructor, allowing them to experience the German language and culture in an authentic setting. The classes are not a conventional language course but are subject-oriented in nature. Depending on the college, different topics are taught that connect to the degree programmes offered on site.

Through this collaboration, we now work with several colleges across China. We have been running this programme successfully for a number of years, with two cohorts per year. Feedback from our guest lecturers and students has been overwhelmingly positive, which is why we continue to grow the programme steadily.

Precisely because China is still a relatively unfamiliar destination for many people, this experience tends to be perceived as particularly intense and valuable. Our tutors live and work closely alongside local people, spend time with students, and are able to take part in shared activities. The result is not only professional learning experiences but also deep insight into culture, everyday life and society — insights that go far beyond what a typical stay abroad can offer.
